“The Crescent City Curly Girl”
I graduated from John Jay Beauty College and have been a hair stylist in the New Orleans Crescent City area for over 30 years.
Being a New Orleans native and a “curly girl” myself, I have first “hair” experience of what the sub-tropic climate in this region can do to natural curls. After reading CURLY GIRL:THE HANDBOOK by Lorraine Massey, I realized a new sense of purpose in my profession as a stylist. I needed to absorb all of this knowledge and use it to teach all my curly sisters (and brothers) to embrace their curls, not resent them! Instead of straightening their hair, I needed to straighten out their heads.
My quest led me to the DevaCurl Academy in NYC where I successfully completed the training required to call myself a DevaCurl Inspired Advanced Stylist, and in July 2018 I became the first and only DevaCurl Level 3 Certified Stylist in the state of Louisiana!
The response has been fulfilling and the journey is a continuous learning experience for me and all who allow me to set their curls free. Curl knowledge and wisdom equals curl love FOREVER.
